Welcome to Bluffview Montessori’s E2B page!
We are a fourth, fifth and sixth grade classroom consisting of twenty-four children. We have a guinea pig named Oliver who loves to be held and listen to students read. During any given day, you will find us focused on math, reading, science and culture!
My name is Anna Schmit and this will be my first-year teaching at Bluffview Montessori! I am from the Winona area, as I grew up in the small town of Rollingstone, MN. I graduated from Winona State University in May 2017 with a degree in Elementary Education. After graduation, I was a substitute teacher for the Winona Area Public Schools. I subbed until I was offered a preschool position at a local childcare center in Winona. I then went back to Goodview Elementary School to finish up this past school year as a long-term substitute for fourth grade. This helped me realize just how much I love working with upper elementary students and that is why I am here! I love spending time with friends and family (specifically my fiancé, Mitch and my cat, Denver). I am very active and love being outside! I love candy and anything sweet. I’m excited to grow in my Montessori philosophy and better get to know the community of people within this beautiful school.
Hello! My name is Sarah Callahan, and I am delighted to be here at Bluffview. I have a bachelor’s degree in Speech Communication with minors in Theatre and Secondary Education. My husband Doug and I have five children and two grandchildren. We have been in the Winona area since 2000. I spent about 20 years homeschooling our children. Boy, did I learn a lot! More recently, I was a reading tutor at Winona Middle School. I enjoy this age group because the kids are generally still very open to learning new things. In my free time, I enjoy reading, taking walks, and travelling.
