About the classroom

We are a classroom community of students in the fourth, fifth, and sixth grade.  The teaching and support staff include teacher, teacher assistant, and a paraprofessional.  We have two parakeets named Kiwi and Rio.

About Ms. Amy

Hello! I have taught in E2C since fall 2017. I graduated from Winona State University in May 2016 with a degree in Elementary Education and a Middle School Math minor. I started at Bluffview as a long-term Children’s House substitute in late January 2017. I was brand-new to Montessori education but quickly fell in love with it! I accepted the E2C position later in the spring and began my Montessori training program that summer. It has been quite the adjustment, but one I have loved making!
Originally I am from a small town in southeastern Wisconsin called Twin Lakes (right by Lake Geneva). I moved to Winona when I started college in 2012, and was thrilled that this town has a movie theater and TWO bowling alleys! Now that I have been here for several years, it feels very much like home and I am tremendously grateful to be working at this wonderful school with such a supportive community.
Some of my favorites: yellow and purple, dogs and pelicans, word puns, and hot chocolate.

About Ms. Claire

Hey! My name is Claire Severson, this is my first time working in a Montessori school. I graduated from Winona State University in 2022 with a bachelor’s degree in recreation and tourism. I stuck around Winona after graduating and was the director of serendipity at the Winona Outdoor Collaborative planning community outdoor events. When I’m not working at Bluffview I’m leading outdoor trips with Wilderness Inquiry and developing outdoor education curriculum. In my free time, I like to spend time with my cat Azula, canoeing in the backwaters, and hiking in the beautiful bluffs. I’m so excited to be part of this community!
