BBQ Thank You

We can’t say it enough – thank you to all who supported the Back to School Barbecue last night! Whether your support was ‘behind the scenes’ or joining us for the food and fun, it was appreciated. Thanks too, for your patience and understanding with our slightly delayed start.

Maria Montessori stated, regarding the child, “The things he sees are not just remembered; they form a part of his soul.” It was a beautiful evening to celebrate the beginning of another school year and spend time with our Bluffview Community replenishing our souls. The children playing, the quiet conversations, the laughing around the tables, people offering help to one another, students hard at work, but also hardly working at times so they could partake in the fun, the sunset — all forming images to see and remember.

The donations provided (above cost) help lower Erdkinder field trip expenses. Getting out in the community is a valuable part of our program because it gives students access to the world around them and a variety of learning activities, styles and opportunities. The barbecue helps make some of that more accessible. Thank You.

‘When the child goes out, it is the world itself that offers itself to him. Let us take the child out to show him real things…”  -Maria Montessori

Explorers of the Week

Ava Van Fossen is a 2nd grade student of Ms. Molly’s E1B classroom who was recognized this week for displaying the virtue of courage when she attempted to read the words to a misspoken part of a song in music class.  Ava’s favorite works in the classroom are math works and reading and she loves Bluffview because of the classroom she is in. Outside of school, Ava likes to play Frisbee golf with her brothers. Ava is the daughter of Jeff and Marcy Van Fossen.

Hunter Isakson is a preschool student of Ms. Katie’s CH2 classroom who was recognized this week for displaying the virtue of self-discipline when he concentrated on his American flag work.  Hunter’s favorite work in the classroom is stilts and he loves Bluffview because he gets to go on field trips to places like Lark Toys and the apple orchard. When Hunter is at home, he likes to play with toys, especially his T-Rex.  Hunter is the son of Ryan Isakson and Robyn Isakson.
