Position Overview
Paraprofessionals provide assistance to students with disabilities by offering support needed in any and all areas to remove/overcome barriers to a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) while aiding them in fulfilling the goals of their Individual Education Programs (IEP) as directed by the student’s primary teacher and special education case manager.
Licensure and Certification Requirements
Two years of college (60 semester credits) or successful completion of the paraprofessional assessment.
Crisis Prevention and Intervention training or ability to acquire it.
Education and Experience Preferences
Crisis Prevention and Intervention certificate or ability to acquire it. Successful previous work with children in an educational setting.
