It is Enrollment Time for Bluffview Montessori School!
January is an important time for enrollment for Bluffview Montessori School for the 2022-2023 school year. Forms were sent home last week. Parents need to complete one of the following forms for each of their children:
- Students entering grades 1-8 (presently in grades Kindergarten through grade 7) – complete and return the “Intent to Return Form” by January 31, 2022. These should be completed if you plan to return OR if you plan to transfer schools for the 2020-2021 school year. This will help determine the number of spots available open to new applicants during our lottery in early February.
- STUDENTS ENTERING KINDERGARTEN – COMPLETE AND RETURN THE “CHARTER SCHOOL APPLICATION FORM BY JANUARY 31, 2022 TO BE INCLUDED IN THE LOTTERY IN EARLY FEBRUARY. THE APPLICATION FORM MUST BE COMPLETED FOR ALL STUDENTS ENTERING KINDERGARTEN!
- Students who are already attending the three year old program and who want to return for the 2022-2023 school year, the “Children’s House Intent to Return Form” needs to be completed and returned by January 31, 2022.

Archery
Mr. El will be offering archery in PE starting the week of January 24 and an archery club that begins January 29 for 4 – 8 graders. Permission slips were sent home earlier this week. Permission slips must be turned in by January 24 in order for students to be able to participate in PE.

There is no school or child care on January 17 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
There is no school or child care on January 21 for a teacher workshop day as January 20th is the end of the semester.

Explorers of the Week
Two of the many students demonstrating virtues this week:
Ava Van Fossen is a 4th grade student of Ms. Amy’s E2C classroom who was recognized this week for displaying the virtue of helpfulness when she offered to do a class job that wasn’t hers. Ava’s favorite work in the classroom is doing research, and she loves Bluffview because of the materials she gets to use. Ava’s favorite activity outside of school is doing puzzles with her family. Ava is the daughter of Jeff & Marcy Van Fossen.
Brynn Beckmann is a 6th grade student of Ms. Amy’s E2C classroom who was recognized this week for displaying the virtue of helpfulness when she noticed Ms. Amy needed help with the birds and volunteered to help. Brynn’s favorite subject in the classroom is math, and she loves Bluffview because of the teachers. Brynn’s favorite activity when she is not in school is hanging out with her friends. Brynn is the daughter of Elana & Jared Beckmann.

Explorers of the Week

Grayson Corcoran is a 1st grade student of Ms. Kiersten’s E1B classroom who was recognized this week for displaying the virtues of helpfulness, friendliness, and kindness when he helped a peer with his coat Grayson’s favorite work in the classroom is reading, and he loves Bluffview because he gets to jump in the snow and play with his friends at recess. Grayson’s favorite activity outside of school is playing with ninja kids. Grayson is the son of Andy & Tanya Corcoran.
Nathaniel Kammerer is a 5th grade student of Ms. Amy’s E2C classroom who was recognized this week for displaying the virtues of helpfulness and cleanliness when he cleaned up a mess in the classroom and put classroom items back in their places without being asked. Nathaniel’s favorite subject in the classroom is science, and he loves Bluffview because the teachers are caring. Nathaniel’s favorite activity when he is not in school is calling his sister. Nathaniel is the son of Jason & Brooke Kammerer and Crystal Petersen.

Congratulations Hope, Morwyn, & Caitlyn!
Congratulations Hope, Morwyn, & Caitlyn for being winners of the “Hands are for” competition! Their artwork will be displayed on the billboard next to Winona National Bank from December 6th, 2021 to January 2nd 2022.
Winona County students, third grade through high school, participated in the Annual Winona County Primary Prevention Project (WCPPP) “Hands are for …” poster art competition. Over 300 entries from Bluffview Montessori, Lewiston-Altura Public Schools, St. Martin’s Lutheran School, Ridgeway Community School and Winona Area Public Schools participated. 5 of the 6 winners (grades 3-8) are from Bluffview! The other 2 pieces were shared last week.
